I Figure

I Figure
I figure I lost the love of God.
Not because of "my" error but because of one man.
I figured one man is enough to vex God over the rest.
I also figured one man is enough to settle the debt done by the other man.

So I put down my resignation and turn away from the error done by one man.
Not saying am without sin
But I won't also deny He is resin
So I drop my actions and thoughts not forgetting the sayings I made that won't please him.
People look and wonder how I have change its like it's all part of a film.

So when ever am asked let's go back  am like I repent.
I figured if we all follow the teaching of  ancient wisdom with modern understanding. You can call it the Holy Bible.
I figure if we are steadfast with our walk
There wouldn't be any room to Salk
I figure if we walk in love there wouldn't be a need to find a reason to Hate.

I figure if we stop pointing fingers on
Politicians, artisans, actors or singers
And check our every walk to see if we stay in line with the Scriptures this will help us see the pictures better.
I figure if a picture say a thousand words then our actions will reveal millions.

I figure if our light is to shine that Men will glorify our Father in Heaven, then we should be led by the light that darkness is yet to comprehend.
I figure that to be the salt of this earth I must stay true to the word and not mixing with the world to the point I don't know what I stand for (salt in water).
I figure like David to be a man after Gods heart I must purse what his heart wants (loyalty and submission)
I figure since am His, then I have no life of my own.
So then I plant the seed Expects Sown.

I figure I should grow like He Did
And be open to all His reproofs like a lid.
I figure I shouldn't allow my eye-lead on the contrary I should pluck it out and let God lead.
I finally figured that God is the existing one (Jehovah) in Him there is no end.

So what about you?
Go figure!

ALPHA III

III
Causing a separation stronger than divorce
The Creator gave waters to the heaven and some to the earth
The earthly waters made room for dry land
If the heavenly waters did, only the creatures therein can tell.

In the spirit of occupying, the birds and flying objects claimed the sky
Expressing and exploring, maximizing the limitless space to fly

None would be called virgin,
Of the family of Micah they won’t be found.
The land sprung forth, birthing fruits, seeds and herbs
Like a twin sentenced to eternal rivalry,
The waters in turn bore fishes and sea animals
The whales and living creatures.

But upon the head of creations, He called a conference;
Of elders and angels, the entirety of the heavenlies
Not because He needed help but because man should be special

The gathering formed an entity
From clay he was made to stand like a statue
Staring but visionless, figure without life
God made him in His own image.
So that the sight of him, tells you how He looks

But he couldn’t function without the breath
The breath that makes him the image of God.
Bearing Thoughts as creative as like the Beginning Himself
Speaking words as potent as his maker.
When He made him, He said he was good!

So blessed He him thus:
To fruitfully replenish the earth
To multiply his kind and lord on others.
Animals might have kings
Fishes can have community leaders
The Fowl of the air would create a defense in troop
But you, his image, was made for dominion!
And everything made perfect sense to God…

The End.

CHOOSING TO LOVE

First time i saw him, my heart skipped a beat or maybe two.
When I looked into her eyes, my knees grew weak and I couldn’t think straight anymore.
These two are the perfect example of today’s definition, the world’s expectation of LOVE.
10 years later, for the strong ones, they are divorced.
And we all wonder, what happened? But they were so in love, or weren’t they?
Of course they were, they could barely spend a day without each other.
They could not eat or drink in the absence of the other, they always moved together with love in their eyes and the widest of smiles on their faces.
They just seemed so perfect for each other and they opted for marriage, a lifetime contract.
So what happened? We ask again.

Here’s what went wrong?
They signed a contract without knowing fully the terms and conditions,
And they eventually opted out, the bed of roses had more thorns than they envisaged,
The guy turns out to be a control freak, so the lady feels like she’s caged,
Or the lady turns out to be an OCD patient, and the guy never does anything right in the house
The guy loses his Job and can provide for them no more, the burden is on the lady,
She becomes irritated and changes towards him
He develops inferiority complex, because “she acts like the boss”.
They fall out of love, they fall apart, never see eye to eye again
And eventually, the actual separation.

Why do we get married?

A Lesson from Samson the Great (How love conquered)

We have over the years, heard about the story of Samson. The most popular story I can even remember is the one which Samson tore the lions mouth. We have also perceived Samson to be the man who was gifted by GOD with strength and yet did not bring people to the reverence of God. Rather he indulged himself in womanizing and taking of strong wine. This we see as acts that aren’t God glorifying and we may even be courageous enough to say Samson’s gift proved a waste in his hands and we would have been able to list people who would have proved more worthy of a gift like this.

However, what we are failing to see is that there is nothing done without the knowledge and approval of God. He allows for things to happen and not necessarily carrying out the actions by Himself. In the case of Samson, the bible records (Judges 14:1-4) how God had always been with him even from the time he was conceived.

We know the story of Samson and Delilah, and how she had connived with the philistine leaders to reveal the secret of Samson’s strength for an exchange of silver (Judges 16:5). We also know that Samson was later caught (Judges 16:20) and perhaps we feel that he could had avoided that.

There is something I would like to draw our attention to and that is how Love played a major role throughout the relationship pan of Samson and Delilah. From the bible, we see that Israel had been delivered unto the Philistines for 40 years (Judges 13:1) and thus, the Israelites were being oppressed by the Philistines and this lead to the birth of Samson, who was to deliver them from their long time oppressors. We also saw that Samson grew into a great treat to the philistines because he was able to overcome their every plan but from another perspective it was also hard for the Israelite’s to hit where matters with the Philistine – the leadership.

Although Samson was defeating the soldiers, he was yet to reach the leaders. Then comes Love, when Samson fell in love with Delilah, it became easy to reach the leaders because they became interested in the relationship. The leaders knew that by Samson falling in love with one of them (Philistines) Samson would become trusting and reveal all his secret. From the other side (God’s) there has been a way to get into the inner chambers of the Philistines. At the time of Samson’s death, we see that Samson killed more philistines (including the ruling class) than ever before (Judges 16:30).

How do we see love in this story?

The Christ Movement

Let’s talk about love.

God created us and He loves us dearly. I am sure we all think it is just normal for God to love us simply because he created us. Why would you create something you don’t love, or why won't you love something you created (anyhow that goes)? So we think it is only natural for him to love us. But no, God’s love isn’t natural, it’s supernatural.

Let’s take this for example; You’re a fashion designer. You make clothes. No matter the challenges you face while making clothes, you still end up creating something beautiful. You end up  loving your designs. You love the clothes you make.

The ability to make something beautiful is fulfilling. Therefore you love what you make, what you created. You love the work of your hands. How much more, when what you created is exactly the image you had in mind, perfect. This, i am sure, is close to how the Creator of Heaven and earth, who created us, must feel. He made us in His own image and loves us dearly. What makes God’s love for His creatures more than man’s love for their creations or inventions is that we have life. We are made to be like Him-in his image! His love for us is agape, unconditional.

God said in Jeremiah 1:5 that he knew us before he formed us in the belly. Yes! God knew and loved us even before we were born. God showed us His love in different ways but the most amazing is that He sent His ONLY SON to die for us so we may have eternal life (John 3:16). He died for us so that we may live.
God wants us to share this love He has for us with others. He showed His love and sent Jesus to save us. If you are saved, great! If not, you can and should be. You are welcome. There is space for everyone.

He wants us to reach out and pour this love on others by telling them how sweet it is to have God as our father. Don’t be selfish with your salvation. We are referred to as ‘witnesses’ in Acts 1:8. It is our duty to tell of His love. That Bible verse also says “we shall receive power after the Holy Ghost is come upon us.” This means we have spiritual backing. There is nothing stopping us. We have all the tools and means we need. We go out, meet people, have phones, use the internet, engage in conversations etc. let us put God in our conversations. Join evangelism groups and/or do personal evangelism.

I stumbled on a quote recently that ended with “your life may be the only Bible someone reads.” The Bible says too that “by their fruits you shall know them.” Therefore our lifestyle says a lot. Our lifestyle should preach Christ too because people watch us.
I will end this by saying – This is Love and Christ Movement. We are taking Jesus to the world!

OBEDIENCE!!!!

Okay, I’m here to tell you a story and subsequently, the moral of the story. Considering the title of this write up, I’m sure you are picturing one of those stories in which the tortoise is always cunning and in trouble due to his disobedience. Well, you’re not totally wrong, but you are wrong. You’re not totally wrong because the main character tried to be cunning and eventually got into some kind of trouble, but you’re wrong because the main character in this story is no Tortoise but Me. Yes oh, I am the one who got me into trouble, and this is how it went down...

I come from a home where we are not allowed to visit friends except our parents know the name, address and parents of the person whom we are going to visit. So, technically the only person I’m allowed to visit is this Childhood friend of mine named Nia. Nia is more than a childhood friend, She is a sister, She is blood. So, right from time, any time I wanted to go anywhere else I would just tell my parents i was going to visit Nia (of course, with Nia’s knowledge), and that does it. (TAAAH!!! Don’t look at me like that joor, I’m sure I am not the only guilty one).

About 6 months back I found out that the Nia’s little sister Kailey was battling with a very deadly disease, Leukaemia. It was really sad and everyone kept putting kailey in their prayers, hoping for a miracle. Nia, being the only sibling Kailey had, was responsible for taking care of her. Nia was under a lot of stress as her parents couldn’t stay at home always, they had to work, if for nothing else but to provide more money for Kailey’s treatment.   Kailey resigned from work to be able to take care of her sister. It was a struggle to keep Kailey alive especially since Kailey was in constant pain. We needed a miracle, we knew it, and we kept praying for one, we never stopped. I wasn’t so much a part of the struggle because I was away in school most of the time, I only saw her anytime I came home for holiday.

So as usual, during my most recent holiday, I planned to go visit the family on a certain day of the week, but i could not go through with my plan because school came calling, and so plans changed. I went to school and got back the same day with the intention to see her the next day, but she told me she was going to be busy running errands for her Mum, then i changed plan yet again. This time, I decided to go see my sweetheart (I know you want to know about him, but I won’t tell you. At least not yet, just know that he is a darling), so as usual i told my parents i was going to see Nia, only this time Nia knew not about my plan, I just didn’t want to disturb her, she had other things handle. And they let me go, i went out and Got back , nothing happened, nobody found out and I was glad. Little did i know that not ‘disturbing’ Nia, was going to be my undoing.

Two days later,It was Christmas, but it didn’t seem like it in my house. We just cooked, went nowhere and had no visitors, it seemed like a day perfect for meditation. And the day seemed to be going pretty well until I heard my mom call my name in a way that could only mean I was in trouble, but I was confident that i had done nothing wrong. So, i casually stood up and strolled down the lobby to her room. I walked in to see her give me the trouble stare and then she asked, “I thought you said you went to Nia’s place, 2 days ago?” my heart skipped a beat, actually three beats. “how did she find out?” was what was running through my mind, and as if to answer my question she went on, “Nia just called to ask after you, and she mentioned that she had not seen you since you got back, where did you go to?”  I was about to think of my cover up lie when my sister walked in to tell her that she had visitors, so my mum had to leave and attend to them, but she left only after she made it clear that she wasn’t done with me.

I immediately called Nia, to ask her what happened, and she told me that she was just calling to wish my mum a merry Christmas and she casually mentioned that she had not seen me, by the time she knew what was happening, she couldn’t cover up for me anymore. I knew then that i was in real trouble, told her i would get back to her later and cut the call. Now, I went to my corner of lies and mischief for aid, hoping to come up with something brilliant enough to get me out of trouble and the only thing I could come up with was that I didn’t meet her at home because she was running errands and so I ceased the opportunity to stay with her sick sister and left before she came home. I knew the lie wasn’t good enough, but it was the best I could conjure up at the time. So I waited for my mum to be done with her visitors so that I could add the extra topping to my meal of lies.

The visitors seemed to take forever, making the waiting period more uncomforting by the hour. A lot of thoughts/voices ran through my head, telling me how my plans would not work, but I let the one convincing me that it would work take control. But there was this one voice that left me baffled, “you shouldn’t do this” He said, “you are better than this, what would it cost you to tell the truth? Besides don’t you think telling this lie would mean taking advantage of the sick girl?”. I knew that was the voice of truth, the holy spirit, I knew that telling the truth was the best option, but I was still torn in between, saving myself from trouble by lying and staying in trouble, but doing the right thing. This battle of the mind continued until I slept off on my bed, still waiting for the visitors to leave.

I woke up the next morning, and the first thing that popped into my head was “you are in trouble”, and the battle started afresh. I couldn’t leave my room for about an hour for fear of being questioned by my mother. Eventually, I put together my fear stricken nerves (what African parents do to you...), and went out to say good morning. I went to her room, went down on my knees, as is the tradition, and said Good Morning.  To my surprise, she greeted me normally, gave me normal pat on the back accompanied by the usual morning prayers which always includes prayer for a good husband. Still surprised but trying not to show it, I got up and was on my way out of the room when she called me back, (Sigh!!!! I knew it was too good to be true) and said “did you really go to Nia’s place? The deciding moment was here, the moment i had planned for and had been patiently waiting for. I opened my mouth to answer but I found myself saying “No, I didn’t. I went to see another friend of mine”. I felt a little bit of relief, but I still was unsure of what was to come. She looked up from the bible she was studying and said “you should have told me, I wouldn’t have stopped you, you have come of age and should be able to go where you want as long as we have the necessary details of your whereabouts. Lying is what I would not condone and it mustn’t happen again, okay?”, “yes, Ma” I replied and apologised. She permitted me to leave the room, and went back to her Bible study. I left the room wondering “what just happened?”.  I got myself out just by telling the truth, it wasn’t so bad after all. I felt a peace that I could not explain, and I thought about the contrast of how unsettled I usually feel after a lie, this is where the moral of the story comes in. I obeyed the Holyspirit and it payed off.

Two days later, Kailey died. It was painful, I was Sad, And I Cried. It was really heart wrenching to lose such a Gem. And while I was thinking of all the times I spent with her during her life time, something struck me that filled my heart with relief. I was going to lie that I was with her two days ago, and I’m thankful that I did not. It occurred to me that I would have felt horrible, in addition to the sadness that already flooded my heart. I would not have been able to forgive myself, if I had gone ahead to lie, using Kaylie as a pawn in my game. It is bad enough that I feel bad that I wasn’t able to see her before she died; lying with her name would have created guilt in my heart that I would have had to live with for a life time.

Basically all I am trying to say is this; I am happy I heeded the nudging of the holy spirit to tell the truth, He saw what I could not see, and tried to help me avert a life time of guilt. This might not seem so grievous to you, but I’m sure you’d prefer to have the peace I have in my heart right now instead of the nagging feeling of guilt that would have been the result of trying to save my face. In this case, Obedience was truly better than sacrifice as I would have had to sacrifice the feeling of unexplainable peace even amidst the sadness and pain for the loss of a little sister. It pays to listen, God cares.

ALPHA

Prior to the record of Genesis
There lived some, of an origin unknown
Of extinction horrific
By nomenclature pre-adamic
Physically spiritual, such was their nature
****************************
Shapeless, void, boundless, liquefied
Such were the descriptions accrued
The entity that goes by ‘world’
The beginning of the existing existentiality

The Beginning Himself has no precedence

His origin impossible to trace
His makeup we never can fathom.
This conclusion we reach: if the Mastermind has no antecedence
His masterwork must to!
Which is the reason for the alpha we know of
The formless entity that yonder exists

Now the form took shape
Carefully measured out without a measuring tape
There were baboons and ape

The plan conceived grew wings
On the power of words, they came living
Like snow in winter land came rugging the waterlocked earth
Too motherly to be infertile, greenish patterns will spring forth

What Love is

Butterflies in my tummy,
happiness at its peak,
That's what I feel..
What I feel when I  see or think of you.
I think I love you,
do I?

I want to have your babies,
spend every waking munite in your arms,
this I want,
the feeling is so strong, and you seem perfect too.
I think I love you,
But No I don't.

Should I take a run?
the feeling is gone,
it's not what I planned,
he's not who I saw,
she's not so perfect afterall...
But Stay I will,
love her through the dirt,
I Choose to stay,
I Chose to love you.

He understands me, But...
she can be really Sweet, But...
this feeling is beautiful..
But what happens when the Buts come In?
Would I stay or Just move on?

Should I take a run?
the feeling is gone,
it's not what I planned,
he's not who I saw,
she's not so perfect afterall...
But stay I will,
love her through the dirt
I Choose to stay,
I Chose to love you.

Reflect on...
Love is too big a word to be described by feelings
or outward appearance.
He chose to pass through scorn, He chose to die to save me,
even though He could see my filthy heart inside out..
He chose to cleanse it,
He chose to Love  me.
That,
is what love is...

Happy Valentine's day.
Here's our gift to you.
